FORCIS Ambassador Spotlight-John Loeffel

John is a dedicated athlete and law enforcement professional with a remarkable background in competitive running. As a former Division 1 runner, he was fortunate to be coached by an Olympic coach, which laid the foundation for my successful running career.

I joined the NYPD in July 2023, where I was able to balance my commitment to service with my passion for the sport. While in the academy, I completed the NYC Marathon with an impressive time of 2:33. Just over a year later, I transferred to the Metropolitan Police Department for the State of New York, continuing to excel in both my professional and athletic pursuits.

In November, I achieved a personal best of 2:28 in the NYC Marathon, further fueling my passion for running. Currently, I am training rigorously, running 100-120 miles a week, with the goal of qualifying for the Olympic Trials. My journey is a unique blend of athletic ambition and a commitment to public service.
